We have just returned from the 4-day WSI Global Convention 2013 in Toronto. From power-packed presentations by high-profile speakers (Google included) to hands-on workshops, a trade show and plenty of networking opportunities, it was a wonderful experience overall.

Many people focus so much on their sales message that they totally forget to include a call to action in their content.  The call to action, or CTA as it is often referred to, is your way of telling your audience what you want them to do.  At MintCopy, we put a lot of thought into the CTAs we write and ensuring that the audience is left in little doubt about what we want them to do.  That might mean reaching for the phone, filling in a contact form or downloading an eBook.

It can be very disheartening when your content fails to resonate with your target audience, but it doesn’t always mean you are using poor quality content.  Did you ever consider that you might have read your target audience wrong?  Very often, content fails because it is focused on the wrong group of people.  Mapping out the personas of your potential customers can help you to nail your content first time and ensure it gets out to the audience that matters.

It’s a fact that informative and educational content can give your audience a great ‘take away’ and keep them coming back for more.  The problem is that educational content can often fall flat, become stale quickly and might only apply to a small group of people.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.  Let’s go back to school for a quick lesson in educational content marketing.

Optimizing your content is a fundamental part of publishing content online.  After all, what is the point in working hard on your content if you are the only one who will ever have set eyes on it?

If you haven’t already started guest blogging, you could be missing out on a huge opportunity to market your brand and share your expert knowledge with others.  Guest blogging is of mutual benefit to all parties involved.  By posting engaging, relevant and fresh content on third party blogs you raise their traffic and online profile and also raise exposure of your own brand by including backlinks in your articles.

You’ve got the web designer working on your website and now you’re starting to look into the content that will tell everybody what your website and brand is all about.  You’ve no doubt decided what pages you want to include. At the very least, you have put a sitemap together. So how do you decide what words to put on those pages that will get your brand noticed and more people to your website.

At MintCopy, we make it a point to keep abreast of the latest content marketing tools being released.  In our last post we discussed the importance of measuring your content in order to get the best returns.  This time, we’re looking at a new service released by PaperShare that allows you to evaluate the success of your content no matter where it is published online.  If you have multiple articles, press releases or social media accounts out there working on your behalf, PaperShare’s Actionable Content Analytics will tell you what you need to know.

So you’ve updated your web copy, published articles, blog posts and press releases, but how do you know they are actually being read…let alone viewed?  You want to be sure that your content is getting the attention it deserves, but how can you measure this in a tangible way?
